Fir'awn _ Now and Then

Mufti Abul Hasan Muhammad Abdullah

Many people are comparing the massacre of Palestinian Muslims, especially children, by Israel with the historic massacre by Fir'awn during the ancient era. It is quite relevant. If you look at the massacres that have been occurring since last October, you will understand it easily. Over the past 70 years of oppression and persecution, there have been many instances where hospitals and children's gatherings were specifically targeted and bombed.

Thousands of children have been martyred, and many more injured. It provides the clear evidence that Israel is deliberately targeting Palestinian children. The mass killing of children by Israel reminds us of the era of Fir'awn, and it's worth noting that modern Egypt, the land of pharaonic rule, is situated right next to Israel.

Many people in different countries now refer to Iraelis as Fir'awns of this era. This characterization is considered quite justified because of their pharaonic characters.

If we read the Holy Quran, we will understand the matter very easily. Those who are aware of history also know Fir'awn. He was a tyrant emperor. No one dared to defy his order. He proclaimed himself as God. An astrologer once foretold that a child would be born, who will challenge his rule and eventually bring about his downfall. People of that age used to place great trust in astrologers.

Fir'awn reacted to this prediction like any other dictators and tyrants in the world. If he had been intelligent, he would have relinquished power earlier and thought, 'There is no need to perish at the hands of a child; I will voluntarily step down.' However, all the tyrants and dictators worldwide seem to tread the same path. When they learn that someone opposes them, they employ all their might to suppress the dissenting voice.

In the present era, we witness oppressors engaging in various atrocities such as abduction, murders, and indiscriminate killings across the world. Fir'awn also did it in that era. He said, 'it is easy to deal with. He who will challenge me is still a newborn baby.' So, he decided to kill all the children, thinking it would solve all the problems at once. However, Allah's decree was different. The downfall of Firawn was unavoidable, just as the fall of oppressors throughout history is inevitable, sooner or later.

In the subsequent events, a boy named Musa was born in a household. Fearing for her child's life, the mother, guided by Allah's wisdom, decided to make the infant float in the river. The child, thus set adrift, grew up in Firawn's own house. At last, Firawn and his companions met their demise while chasing Musa. This historical account is well-known to all.

One crucial point to remember is that Israel is killing the children under the fear that these youngsters might throw stones at them in the future. The motive is to eliminate a perceived threat before it materializes. However, they seem to overlook a crucial lesson from history. The attempt to extinguish children, reminiscent of Firawn's actions, does not guarantee their safety. Just as the child raised in Pharaoh's house challenged him in the past, a similar scenario might unfold today. It is quite possible that within Israel, a figure like Salahuddin Ayyubi or someone with another name is growing up. He will challenge them, and their destruction will be in his hands.

It must be remembered that those who appeared in history to turn things upside down often emerged suddenly. Before the day of Salahuddin Ayyubi's victory, no one could have predicted that this man would rescue Palestine and Masjid al-Aqsa from the Crusaders once again. Similarly, who could have foreseen the rise of a power like the Tatars before their arrival?

The Arabs are not standing up with their oppressed Muslim brothers, who have the same language, culture, and religion. Instead, they have befriended Israel and taken its side. They repeatedly organized meetings but took decisions in favor of Israel. They could not take any effective action until now. They are thinking, if the Palestinians stand strong, if Hamas becomes stronger, they may challenge their power. However, it is crucial for them to read and understand history again.

History says, when a brave and great person stands in a region, his influence is not only confined to his own region. The neighboring territories are also influenced by him. Today Israel is killing children in Gaza. What will happen if tomorrow a child who escaped from their killing challenges them? In that case, he will not only challenge them, but also challenge their allies. What will happen to these Arab leaders? Will their power remain intact at that time?

There is no doubt that Israel will be destructed today or tomorrow. Those who oppress others are destined for a downfall on this earth. However, the question remains, will the Arabs, who are giving support to Israel publicly through their silence, be spared? The question does not need an answer.
