What Islam teaches us to do after success?

Mawlana Abu Hassan Rayan Bin Lutfur Rahman

Allah has chosen Islam as our religion. He gave this religion many qualities. A unique quality is that it is a complete and universal religion. This religion gives us the right guidance in every phase of life. By following its rules and instructions, we can achieve success in this world and in the life after death.

People have success and failure in their personal and national lives. There are ups and downs. But in all these situations, a believer's belief and consciousness, behavior and action should be different and distinct from others. Especially in cases where there are clear instructions of Shariah; as a believer it is our responsibility to evaluate it.

When victory is achieved, authority and leadership are established in the land, we have several things to do, which is mentioned below.

One

First of all, our duty is to believe that victory is the gift of Allah alone. Without His mercy, victory is not possible at all. Allah says:

Those who firmly believe that they must meet with Allah; they began to say how many small groups have defeated the big groups by the command of Allah. And Allah is with the patient. - Surah Baqarah (2): 249

In fact, it is desirable that a believer should feel this way about achieving victory.

Two

Since victory is Allah's gift and blessing, it is the duty of the believers to thank Allah for this blessing; and to apologize for the error. Allah says:

When Allah's help and victory comes and you see people entering Allah's religion in groups, then recite Tasbeeh of your Lord and seek His forgiveness. Surely He is Most Forgiving. - Surah Nasr (110): 1-3

Three

After achieving victory, the duty of a believer is to be modest, not to be disorderly; to be humble, not to be over-exalted. Allah says:

I will give that abode in the hereafter to those who do not want to show arrogance and create mischief in the earth. And the auspicious result is for the God-fearing people. - Surah Qasas (28): 83

When the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam entered the city of Makkah in triumph and reached the place called Zi Tua, he covered his head and face with a piece of red cloth. Noticing that Allah had honored him with this victory, he bowed his head in such a way that his beard touched the middle of the hauda. –al-bidaya wa al-Nihaya, V. 4, P. 293

One day he was forced to migrate from the city of Makkah due to the oppression of Quraish. May Allah bless our Prophet, who has set this unique example before us.

Four

After the victory is achieved, the important duty of a believer is to obey the commandments of the one who gave the victory, to implement the laws of the one who gave us land in our lives and in all spheres of society. Allah Ta'ala mentions the characteristics of His righteous and loyal servants:

They are such that if I grant them power in the world, they will establish Salat, pay Zakat, and enjoin good deeds and forbid evil deeds. And the outcome of everything is in the power of Allah. - Surah Hajjab (22): 41

If Shariah laws are implemented properly, the inhabitants of the land will enjoy peace and happiness. They will be blessed with all kinds of welfare and blessings. Allah says:

If the inhabitants of the town had believed and practiced piety, we would have opened for them the blessings of the heavens and the earth. But they refused. So I caught them because of what they did. - Surah A'raf (7): 98

Five

After the victory is achieved, the greatest responsibility of Muslims is to keep the land free from all kinds of sins and disobedience of Allah. For when disobedience to Allah exceeds its limits, destruction and scourge descend upon the inhabitants of the land. They are deprived of various benefits and blessings, and even in some cases this victory turns into defeat. Allah says:

When I wish to destroy a town, I order its wealthy people (to believe and do good deeds). But they become indulged in disobedience there, so that (punishment) is decreed for that town. Then I destroy it completely. - Surah Bani Israil (17): 16

Six

Another important task after victory is to pray to Allah for peace, prosperity, security and to save Iman of the people in the country as Hadhrat Ibrahim a.s. did. It is mentioned in the Quran-

Remember, when Ibrahim said, O my Lord! Make this city safe and keep me and my children away from idolatry. - Surah Ibrahim (14) 35

Even when our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) migrated to Madinah, he prayed:

O Allah! Make us love Madinah as much as we love Makkah or more than that. O Allah! Make Madinah a healthy place and give us barakah in mud and sa' (special pots of measure) of Madinah. And move fever of Madinah to the place called Zuhfa. - Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 2926

Therefore, the responsibility of the rulers is to ensure the peace, prosperity, security of the country and to take necessary measures to safeguard the faith of the people.

Seven

The last thing in this context is that victory is one thing. Keeping the victory intact is another thing. It is the duty of every Muslim citizen to keep a watchful eye on the independence and sovereignty of his country. Otherwise the fate of Spain, Palestine, Kashmir, Arakan may also happen to us. . Reminding the Muslim Ummah of this duty, Hadhrat 'Amr Ibnul 'As  r.a. the conqueror of Egypt said:

You must always be engaged in the guarding of this land till the Day of Judgment, because there are many enemies around you...

May Allah protect every Muslim land including our beloved motherland, make them firm Iman and Islam, and bestow upon them all kinds of welfare - Amin.
